Safety Is Our Number One Priority

The Wiggle Bridge and AquaObstacle Course are a lot of fun but meant our deep-end swim test needed a review.  It's important to the Centre to ensure the safety of anyone that uses the deep-end of our pool.  When someone slides off one of these features they need to be comfortable enough to go under the water, orientate themselves, and able to swim a longer distance to reach the wall.

Deep-End Test for Pink Wristbands

All guests and members under the age of 16 years will need to wear a pink wristband to use the deep end of the pool.  This includes lap lanes, climbing wall, Wiggle Bridge, AquaObstacle Course, and slide (if under 48" and riding solo).

The deep-end swim test will require successful completion of the following skills:

  • jump into 12 feet of water without goggles
  • recover without wiping eyes
  • swim 25 yards with face in the water and arms out of the water (aka no doggy paddle)
  • must put face in at least 3 times throughout 25 yards

What This Means for Swimmers

We will ask all swimmers who haven't taken the deep-end swim test in 2017 to retake the test.  Deep-end tests can be performed by all our lifeguards at any time.  While this means a little bit of extra time, we value all swimmers' safety and believe this is an important step to take.  Thank you for your understanding.
